THANKS ALEX YOUR A GREAT GUY FOR DOING ALL THIS
So great that you share this information with everyone, great video, your a great person.
One of things that I struggle with is that my anxiety comes from fearing the fear, for example if I have to go somewhere I work myself up so that by the time I get there I am very anxious, fast heart rate and shaky. So I actually fear the fear, when I’m not facing such situations I can be quite relaxed, but the leadup could be for days, so not sure what to put on my list. Let me know if you can help.
I am really looking forward to doing this detox exercise when I get home. Even just watching the video has made me feel positive and hopeful. Thanks heaps Alex.
Alex,
Sounds good I’ll certainly put this in practice. Seems a positive starting place, however it’s the uncontrollable negative thought that do the damage. One of my anx’es is locked into a car or train carriage where I feel I need to break free!. I can see that separating the worries that can be acted upon from those which you have no control helps us to focus better. Will try your suggested technique over the weekend
Thanks
Kevin
It’s good to see new videos from you again!
This was a very thought provoking video and I found it helpful. I was a bit surprised how many fears and anxieties I had on my list, but even more so on how many I couldn’t control. When it comes to letting these go, are they a little stubborn at first? That is If letting go, like really letting go isn’t right away, does repeating it until it’s accepted work?
My fears cause me to be hesitant and avoidant . Like if I think I’m going to get an unpleasant email from someone, I’ll worry about opening it because it might say something inside I won’t like. So I put it off and avoid it [though that creates a whole bunch of problems in itself]. Same goes for trying to get a job. I’m scared of being forced into a position I won’t like, so I just don’t get a job at all. It’s very frustrating and I don’t know how to handle these fears.
That’s a bit random and off topic, but it makes me glad you are taking the time to put this information up and everything else you’ve done. It’s really appreciated!
Thank you Alex!
[great idea on the blog!]
The idea of an axiety detox is brilliant!. I’ll need to really commit to your suggestions to make some progress, but I know it will be worth the effort. Thanks for all you do!
thank you so much you have really helped me i have learned stuff that i have not found in any book i have read
I’m very glad that you have produced another video. All the stuff you have sent so far shows that you have a proper insight into what I and so many others are experiencing. This latest concept of the detox looks well worth doing (I will do the exercises once I have written this). Like everyone else I really want to thank you for what you are doing. It gives me hope and something practical to do. I anticipate a panic attack and so it happens just as I had anticipated. These tactics will hopefully work on this. Thanks again.
Great idea Alex! I’ve recently cleaned up my diet and it has had a tremendous impact on my anxiety levels.I recommend all anxiety sufferers reduce the poisons they put in their bodies. I think that detoxing my thoughts will fit in quite nicely. I love the way your mind works. Thanks for everything!
Thanks Alex for the new video!
I was wondering if you had any suggestions or examples of the solutions we should be thingink about? Whe I made my list there were things on there that I couldnt control such as trafic or elevators but I noticed that in all of my fears there was a sense of being trapped and a distrust in myself to get myself out or that I could kep myself safe. For example: I havnt driven on the highway for a month now because (ultimatly) I dont trust myself not to freak out and pull over on the side and then feel more trapped and I cant get myself out of the situation. Along with logically knowing that there is nothing wrong with driving on the highway and that if I wanted to get off the highway I would just drive to the next exit, I still have the fear that I cant do it….I was just wondering what would be the ‘solution’ thinking? All of my fears are like this, they all have the undertone of distrust, mabey this is what I need to be focusing on….trusting myself and forgiving my self for mistakes and giving myself a break when I do make a mistake………?
Just some thoughts, look foward to hearing from you again,
Irene
thank you alex for being such a genuine person. you have loads of good kharma, i’m sure.
i had about 65 fears at first and then i realized they were pretty redundant so, i narrowed it down to 48. i could only control 13 of them and a couple weren’t very pressing so i have 10 fears i can control.
when i wrote down some of the things i fear, i realized it was actually pretty silly. and the others are things that come with life (such as being embarassed, waiting etc). my outlook was so negative that i had a huge response to minor stressors.
this exercsie helped me. i like how you reitterated that being positive is key. its like these quotes:
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” Henry Ford
thanks for all the time you put in and for not charging money. you are changing people’s lives!
but I dont know why I am scared
I haven’t yet commented on your videos yet Alex but I must say that I think you are a legend in your own right. Doing all this work for other people free of charge is very good of you and I wish you the best of luck for the rest of your life.
But on your video might I suggest to anyone who is trying the ‘letting go’ part of the list that they unable to change, to listen to the song “Just let go – by Fisherspooner” on youtube while they read through the list.
Your whole course has really helped me now I have a totally new perspective on how my mind is mentally beating me up on a daily basis and without your help I would still be seriously considering just shooting myself.
Thanks Alex
