Just thought I’d leave a comment to encourage you to do the same! :) I’ll reply to every one I get (if a reply is required!) either here or via email. I would love to hear from you, so if you have a minute, send something my way!

Oh, your email address won’t be published. Only I’ll see it ;-)

    Talk to you again soon.

    Best wishes,
    Alex.

  2. mike on September 6th, 2009 8:20 pm

what about if you blush all the time you cant stop that

Alex: That’s slightly different than these little habits we develop, because blushing is completely beyond our control once it starts. But there’s a video that I’ve already put together that should be coming your way in a couple of weeks, and it’s all about the physical symptoms that anxiety can cause (including blushing!). Hopefully it will help ;-)

  3. Sam on September 6th, 2009 8:36 pm

Good to see you back Alex. I have wondered about you and what was going on in your life. Seeing your name in my inbox was like running into an old friend. Welcome back.

    Sam

Alex: Thanks, Sam. That’s really nicce! I know what you mean about feeling like you’re seeing an old friend again. I’ve missed hearing from you too!

    Natty

Natty, you’re right - it was a very long time. Until tonight when I sent out the new video I hadn’t realised just how long it had been. I was worried you’d have forgotten who I was :p

Alex: Hi Mary! I’m glad the videos are helpful. Do you mean “No More Panic”? If so, you’re right, it’s a great place. I used to read the forums there years ago when I needed support myself. If you post there regularly, feel free to put links back to anything on my site that you think will help other people there!

  9. Andy on September 6th, 2009 10:51 pm

    Hey Alex,

Sorry to hear you haven’t been well. I hope that you feel better soon. It’ sgreat to have you back. I always looked forward to your next video and will do so again so. They’re always so reassuring and have loads of great ideas. This one is no different. Going to give this a go, will let you know how it turns out,

    All the best,

    Andy

Alex: Hi Andy! Thanks for the good wishes. There are lots more videos (and other things) coming over the next few weeks, so I hope they prove just as helpful! And try to let me know how you get on trying the ideas in *this* video.

  10. Rick on September 6th, 2009 11:06 pm

Like Sam I was wondering what happened to you. I look forward to hearing from you with your instructions on stopping anxiety and panic attacks. The information you have given has helped even though I have not done a good job using the information. Unfortunately I have CFS and it makes it hard to follow through with your suggestions but I hope to do better in the future. I am going to pass your web site on to others when I feel that you can help them. Welcome back.

    Rick

Alex: Hi Rick! I’m happy to hear the videos are helping, although I know how hard some of them might be to put into action if you have chronic fatigue syndrome. I was never officially diagnosed as having it myself, but that’s probably only because my doctor got fed up of diagnosing me :p I had weeks on end where I could barely get out of bed…

But every little step forward you take is another one closer to being completely free from all of this. Even if you feel the progress is slow, it’s still going in the right direction. Keep going!

  11. Inga on September 6th, 2009 11:11 pm

    Hi Alex

Sorry about you feeling not well, hope you be better!!!! Welcome back, and thanks for your videos and all your efforts for being helpful to all of us.

    All the best!

    IG.

Alex: Hi Inga! I’m feeling much better, thanks! It’s nice to know you’re there too. I’m sure you help me as much as I help you :)

  12. christine on September 6th, 2009 11:17 pm

    Hi Alex,

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell i wish you a speedy recovery.

As always thanks for the tips and videos they are excellent.

I was wondering if maybe you have any tips for going back yo college or work after a big break , i had a relapse during the summer and im finding it very hard to start back at college this week.

    thanks ,

    christine

Alex: Hi Christine! Thanks for your kind words. I’ve got quite a few things lined up to send you over the next few weeks, and I’m sure some of them will help with your college situation. There should be a video coming soon on worrying and how to stop it, and I think that one in particular will prove to be useful. Keep an eye on your inbox!

  13. Gaye on September 6th, 2009 11:22 pm

  14. Nita on September 7th, 2009 1:07 am

Hi Alex, its early in the morning and I saw your email and quickly opened it cuz there is no single day and night that my anxiety let me down… I will try your advice and see how it goes.

Thanks you in advance, and I really hope I’ll get better as my life becomes more and more harder to live everyday! So hard to cope with anything I do! I am in tears right now trying to write to you… No one seems want to hear my troubles…

    Best wishes,

    Nita

Alex: Hi Nita! I’ve been in exactly the situation you described. I spent many nights awake, looking for answers, feeling alone. Sometimes it seemed impossible to imagine that things would ever get better, but they did, and they will for you too. Like I’ve been saying, there are *lots* of things coming soon, and I really think you’re going to make some HUGE progress in the next few weeks!

But in the meantime, you can always email me if you want to talk to someone: alex@preventyourpanic.com

  15. nora on September 7th, 2009 2:24 am

hi Alex …Sorry to hear you haven’t been well…

my problem is .. i blush all the time and i really hate it …
is there a way that i can stop it ..?

Alex: Hi Nora! First of all, thanks for your kind words.

The trouble with blushing is that once it starts there’s nothing you can do to make it stop or go away fast. So that means you need to find a way to make it *not* happen in the first place. There’s something coming soon that’s aimed at these kinds of physical symptoms, and I think it’ll help a lot with your blushing. Keep your eye out for it! ;-)

  16. Frank on September 7th, 2009 2:31 am

Hi Alex. Nice to hear from you again:).

Alex: Nice to hear from you too, Frank! Always love to get some comments :)

  17. Glenda on September 7th, 2009 4:24 am

    Hi Alex,
Sorry to hear that you haven’t been well lately. I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
I have just recently listened to the 5 videos you sent to my email. They have been tremendously helpful too, as i have been having a lot of anxiety trying to adjust driving on the motorways and stuff since we moved to Aussie from NZ. I have always enjoyed driving, and am generally confident. Your emails and videos have been a lifesaver for me, and I’m now starting, because of them, to deliberatly get out there and challenge myself a little at a time. Thank you for making me realise that i can use positive self talk and set myself goals to make my life get back to normality.

    Thank you & best wishes,
    Glenda.

Alex: Hi Glenda! Thanks for your kind thoughts. And it sounds like you’re doing great! I’m glad to hear some of the things I’ve sent are helping you out. Actually, I’ve got something new coming soon on self-talk, so if it’s something that’s been helping you, I think you’ll really like what’s coming!

  18. Jon on September 7th, 2009 7:21 am

Thanks Alex! Glad to hear you’re doing better. I look forward to learning more. have a great day!

  21. jean on September 7th, 2009 8:40 am

    Hi alex,
I’m excited to hear from you again. Your desire to help n share your life indeed show much of who are you inside.
alex, I’m now taking food supplement 5HTP for two days now at 50mg dose. so far it keeps me calm but have not achieved the sweet sleep that I crave.
The technique that you are sharing is quite tasking as it requires much mind discpline. maybe it will make the mind work harder than make it relax. what do you think?
I want also to try the Empowerplus produced by Truehope. its mutivitamns n minerals noted to help mental disorder such as bipolar, anxieties, panic attacks n sleep disorder. what do you think of all these?

Alex: Hi Jean! The technique in this video isn’t really a relaxation technique. It’s more of a training exercise to help your body break the triggers between what you do physically and how that makes you feel psychologically. It only realy requires discipline in the few days when you’re learning what your own physical anxiety habits are. Once you’ve done that, a lot of it should become automatic and by then you’ll be getting good results!

I’ve never taken any of the vitamin-based treatments you mentioned, but I did try St. John’s Wort a few years back when I was in really bad shape. It caused some unpleasant side-effects, so I stayed away from all those kinds of things after that. Although I still take a multi-vitamin everyday!

  22. Tanya on September 7th, 2009 9:21 am

    Hello Alex!

Just to say that I’m glad to see you again and I really did think that you may be going through some difficulties, I am sorry but happy that things are getting better for you.

I wish you all the best and hope to see you around again a lot!

    Tanya

Alex: Hi Tanya! It’s really great to hear from you too! And I’ll definitely be around a lot again from now on :) Oh, and don’t think I missed your message on Facebook. I’ll send you a reply later :) I hope things are going well for you!

  23. Christian on September 7th, 2009 2:24 pm

    Hey Alex,

welcome back! Thanks for another great video!

I was wondering of you have some material on dizziness? It’s one of my worst anxiety associated problems.

    Sincerely,

    Christian

Alex: Hi Christian! There are definitely some things coming that should help with dizziness. I know how horrible dizziness can be - it was one of my worst anxiety symptoms for years. There were days when I literally couldn’t walk from the bedroom to the bathroom without holding onto the walls :( Some thnigs that are coming on physical symptoms should definitely help!

  24. Jules on September 7th, 2009 4:43 pm

Not too many things in life are free, especially help for anxiety. This is the first and only support that I have found online or elsewhere with out a fee or strings attached. Bless you brother! May all you do to help others return to you in blessings.

  25. Mari on September 7th, 2009 6:55 pm

    Hi Alex,
It was great to see your e-mail and to view this recent video. Your panic attack information has been one of the primary reasons I feel so good today. My panic attacks began 30 years ago when I was drinking more coffee than my body could tolerate. I thought I was having a heart attack, went to the emergency room, and was sent home. I trimmed my coffee drinking to only one cup per day. This stopped the panic attacks.
Then two years ago I ignored symptoms of dizziness, heart palpatations, and my face flushing thinking it was stress and it was. These were stress induced symptoms and I found out I needed to have a cardiac ablation because of extra circuits in my heart. After the procedure two years ago, the panic attacks started again. I realized my heart was fine but my brain wouldn’t cooperate. This is where you and your wonderful videos came to be so invaluable to me. I now am able to use your guidelines and stop most attacks before they get out of control. Thank you, Alex, for ALL your efforts to help others. You are a blessing. May you also continue in good health. Glad you’re back.
    Kind Regards, Mari

  27. Candace on September 8th, 2009 1:23 am

Hi Alex, your video was most excellent!!!! I don’t really have “panic attacks, but I have social anxiety. I’m very out going and confident as a general rule, but sometimes I have horrible social anxiety. My mouth will shake and my hands too. It’s quit awful when it happens! Do you have any tips for this? :)

    Candace :)

  28. Karen on September 8th, 2009 1:56 am

  29. maria Sideris on September 8th, 2009 2:52 am

    Hey Alex,
I was just wondering if you were going to do a video on depersonalization? My problem is that I am fine and I go out and do normal things but out of nowhere I’ll get these thoughts that I can’t control, my anxiety doesn’t prevent me from doing anything but I always feel uncomfortable once the thought hits me. Will I always be like this? and if i choose not to medicate will it ever go away?

  30. jean on September 8th, 2009 5:22 am

    dear alex,
thanks for your reply. it meant a lot to me.
I have been into 5HTP supplement for 3 nites now and indeed it made me more relax n sleep longer but I get this unusual feeling that I cant explain. Maybe I will lower the dose or quit using it. My supply of empowerplus will arrive soon. I think this supplement will work better as it contains complete vitamins and minerals that help supply brain nutrients. I will let you know if this work for me.
by the way alex, what’s your nationality? I’m from philippines for your info.
its interesting to know that people from all parts of the world share the same struggles.

  31. Laura on September 8th, 2009 2:58 pm

I was wondering where you went. I am glad you are back. I find your videos to be so helpful and remind me that I am not alone or crazy.

  32. Joe Smith on September 8th, 2009 6:05 pm

    Hello Alex,
I just wanted to say, I hope all is well with you and thanks for taking the time to publish another video. Your videos have helped me alot. I’m dealing with panic attacks that started after my father passed in 2000 and got worse when my mother passed in 2006. When my father passed, I stood there in the hospital and basically watched him suffocate due to pneumonia caused by lukemia. After that I started having trouble breathing and went to the doctor. Thats when he told me I was having anxiety, and I said its not possible because I wasn’t nervous. So he gave me some Xanax and told me to take them when needed. I didn’t take them for a long time for fear of the unknown effects. Now I’m addicted to them and trying to wean myself off but my anxiety has changed from trouble breathing to almost unable to travel which is something I love to do but now my mind won’t let me. I have the worst panic attacks when setting at a traffic lite and traveling into congested areas. I remember before the medication, I used to go everywhere and nothing bothered me as I love to drive and travel but looking back over the years, I am able to see how I’ve progressively gotten alot worse. I’f you have any advice on dealing with panic attacks due to lack of xanax as I wean myself, that would be most useful also driving or setting in traffic. I’m sure there is someone out there going through the same also.
Once again, It’s great to see you back. It’s like seeing an old friend for the first time in years.

    Thanks

  33. ben on September 8th, 2009 9:23 pm

glad to see u are back and feeling somebit better i really enjoy your vids and they strike a real reality in what most of us suffer i have found then a great help so far …i hope u maybe be doing something on the heart palpitations side of panic as this seems to strike a lot of folks the most including myself it would be my first habit to creating the path to my panic …i tdo suffer from a heart rhythm disorder which probably does not help one bit but it is fear of that drives my panic/anxiety..
talk to u again my friend
    bless you

  34. Javon Shipman on September 11th, 2009 3:33 am

First I want to thank u for making this video is is very helpful…. Most of your videos have put me on the right track so far… but I was suggesting something that maybe could add on too this technique that could help a little better… instead of trying to prevent an action when you are severely stress why not add an action as simple as putting a hand in the air…..all focus may go into that simple reaction while your doing…causing your mind to shift attention…. a person’s cognition maybe ” hey this is so stupid why am i putting my hand in the air” but what they didn’t realize is that their anxiety level drops…

  38. MICHAEL DEVLETOGLOU on September 14th, 2009 8:48 am

Dear Alex,Thank you for the very interesting video about anxiety.Anxiety in driving is my problem for six monthes and can’t get rid of.While driving in some cases when the road has much traffic anxiety appears to me then dizziness and fear.Although I have been driving over 40 years the feeling I experience is terrible and makes my driving -I think -unsafe.The last 10 days I have some improvement but I avoid to drive over 40 miles it seams as I am going to lose the control of my car in higher speeds.
    THANK YOU FOR THE EFFORT.
    Michael
