    Thanks Alex,

    I do incorporate deep breathing when I feel anxious.
    I will try this paper bag method starting today.
    Maybe this will help me with the lightheaded dizzy feeling.

    Really good advise, although I found the breath sharply for two seconds, hold two seconds and breathe out for six seconds kinda made me feel light headed.

    I would really recommend these techniques. I’ve been doing some breathing exercises for a while and the DO help. I’m seeing a therapist for my panic attacks and he recommends using just cupped hands over your mouth and nose (in case there is no bag available). He told me that years ago miners used to use this technique to preserve oxygen if there had been a pit collapse. It not only saved their lives but helped to keep them calm !!!!!!!!!     hi alex, thank you for making this video. i have breathing issues (usually hold my breath during stressful times), and the tip at the end about breathing into a paper bag at times throughout the day sounds so logical, i’m definitely going to try it.

    I always love hearing your voice and your suggestions; your voice alone calms me down, and the breathing exercises were helpful. I too have panic attacks much less frequently in general. I find just knowing I’ve gone through this many times before very helpful. One advantage of just growing older?

    Alex,
    As well as proper breathing, I find it very helpful to have water with you at times of potential stress. Also wear light clothing as the claustrophobic feeling of too many clothes is unbearable, I think aerating your body internally and externally very helpful if not curative in panic situations

    Very good tips. Breathing is so very important and these are very simple techniques to use at any time. I like the bag idea.

    Sometimes when I am doing breathing exercises, such as the relaxing breathing and calming breathing, I find it helpful to picture a very calm, serene scene in my mind, and then focus on it – color, sounds, smells, etc. Really concentrate on details of the scene I’m viewing. Breathing and guided imagery like this are beneficial to me to distract the panic and break the cycle. I also use mantras sometimes, verbally speaking them, to disrupt the panic. My favorite is “healthy, vital, strong”, but it really doesn’t matter what you use.

    Hello Alex I think that all the tips are good. My panic is almost non existent from all the help you have given in your videos. This has help me feel normal again and I keep going back to reinforce the tricks and information you have supplied in your videos. I would like to thank you as without this information, I would probably be still feeling all the stress of these terrible attacks. Again Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work.

    i find this very interesting, i am getting information for my daughter,she;s had a lot of seizures, ending up in I.C.U under a medical comma for a week. when she gets home , she has panic attacks,ive shown her the paper bag one, its helped already. she was getting them between 4 and 5 each day, now its just now and again. so i think the rest of it will help a lot more. also its helping me, i don’t panic , but i can feel anxious, so the breathing ones are good thankyou .carol

    I strongly urge you to look into Buteyko breathing for vitality and calmness. Please, also, check out EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) for anxiety relief and personal growth.     PLEASE LOOK!! Alex thank you again for another good video , But i want to tell u and everyone else how i went from extreme anxiety – feelings that for some reason i thought i was going to stab my kid- to being normal again,i know it sounds stupid and silly right, well it turns out it really is silly and stupid its all made up , like when one is a kid and is scare of monsters they dont really exist but you see them on tv and you toy with the idea of them until you start believing your own lies! lies, lies, lies that’s all they are and you need to take the blindfold off and realize that!. The reason i started having this problems was because you always hear on tv about a man going crazy murdering his family and plus you watch scary disturbing movies sometimes and you start toying with the idea in your head that you might also be in danger of these kind of happenings and before you know it you start believing it. sound familiar? LIES LIES LIES!!! take the blindfold off and live life theres so much more good there, find a hobby , get involved in something , be positive, life is GOOD AGAIN!

    hello i suffer from social aniexty and i was wondering i u had any tips on that bascally i feel very akward walking roound and sitting down having ci=onverstio or eating or doing something i feel very messy and for ths reason i have droped out of college becaue i cant face the world anymore , i am very scared for my future as i dont no who will giv me a job as i cant even explain myself properly….plzzzzz helppppp

    ivan, you are aware that people don’t have social anxiety by choice aren’t you? So telling us to “take off the blindfold and live life” is kinda pointless. if we could do that then we wouldn’t have a problem in the first place.
